Installation: The program is embedded in an AutoCAD template (TectoniCAD.dwg). After opening the drawing, you have the full functionality for a test period of 30 days. The TectoniCAD meny entry is positioned in the AutoCAD menu..
Licensing: To license TectoniCAD, click > TectoniCAD > Licensing. The License management form is brought up. For a valid TectoniCAD full license, send your activation code to
. The activation code is computer specific. After your payment you'll receive the license key. After inserting the license key all features of TectoniCAD are available. You can easily transfer the license between all comuters within a windows network. |

Data entry and data management: To add a new data set, click on the green + symbol in the Action toolbar, enter a name for the new data set (e.g. Test) and click OK. You can add measurements, after clicking the green + symbol in the right frame. Enter the direction & dip values and select the type of the measurement (e.g. bedding, schistosity, fault, joint, slickenside, linear) and click OK. The fields x,y,z, length and width define the relative position as well as the scale factor of the measurements in the 3D diagram. Alternatively, you can import data (ASCII-format). All data are stored in the drawing. |
2D representation: Click on the accordant symbol (pole points, great circle, rose diagrams, isolines) and select in AutoCAD a position of the diagram. The diagram is inserted as AutoCAD block. The page „2D settings“ contain different possibilities to configure the 2D representation. |
3D representation: 3D structural planes can also be displayed as intersection traces with a volume. The positioning of the structural element within the volume is controlled by the values for x,y, and z-coordinates. The dimension is controlled by the values for width and the length. The page „3D settings“ contain different possibilities to configure the 3D representation (3D solid, 3D axis, transparency, visibility, color, north arrow, axis). Beside some predefined solids, you can define own solids in AutoCAD and store them in the directory „3D solids“. |
Data changes: Select the according data set from the list and change the values. Data are changed automatical and after clicking the green refresh button, the drawing is actualised. Double click on the list entry highlights the measurement in the diagram. Save the drawing to ensure, that your data are saved. |

Meaning |
Adds a new measurement to the list |
Deletes the current measurement |
Imports direction-dip pairs from an ASCII file into the current data set, overwriting existing measurements. Types can later be added in the measurement pane. |
Exports direction-dip-type triples along with graphical attributes from the current data set to an ASCII file |
2D: plot pole points with stereographic projection |
2D: plot great circles with stereographic projection |
2D: plot rose diagram |
2D: plot pole point density isolines (2 stereoplots are generated: one for planar pole points, one for linear intersection points) |
Calculate circular statistics |
3D: plot 3D reference solid and measurements |
3D: plot 3D reference solid with cut planar measurements |
3D: plot shell of 3D reference solid and intersection traces of planar measurements |
Redraw changes. All diagrams of the active dataset will be refreshed |
3D-orbit for inspecting 3D diagrams |
Selects a measurement from 2D pole point graphics, great circle graphics and 3D faces and highlights the related measurement in the list entry |
Offset (3D select): pick a point on 3D reference solid to define x,y,z center point of current measurement |
Visibility: toggle on/off in 2D/3D graphics |
Slice: toggle on/off slicing of reference solid by current (planar) structure elements. Sliced solids are given random colors (to be later edited in AutoCAD) |
